This Breathing Style allows Tanjiro to increase the amount of oxygen in his blood through the control of his breathing pattern. Water Breathing: Tanjiro was taught the Water Breathing Style by the former Water Hashira Sakonji.With Breathing Hybridization, Tanjiro can use both the Water Breathing and Sun Breathing styles simultaneously. Breathing Hybridization: is when a demon slayer uses more than one Breathing Style technique at a time, allowing them to take advantage of the advantageous aspects of both techniques.There is an immense difference in strength, speed, and stamina between someone who can maintain Total Concentration Breathing at all times and someone who cannot. Total Concentration: Constant is a Total Concentration Breathing state during the morning, noon, and night, and even while asleep that Advanced Demon Slayers, such as Hashira, can constantly maintain.It is often used by demon slayers for a brief moment to temporarily boost their combat capabilities to prepare a decisive attack. Total Concentration Breathing: an advanced application of Breathing, is a state where a Breathing Style user inhales the maximum amount of oxygen within a specific breath pattern to raise their physical and mental prowess to their utmost limits.Focused breathing is also capable of clotting wounds from severe injuries and slowing down the circulation of poison in the bloodstream. This allows them to fight on par with demons, who are naturally physically stronger than humans. This increase of oxygen allows the user to enhance their physical abilities and mental concentration. The Breathing Styles make use of specific and concentrated breathing patterns, which increase the user’s lung capacity and the amount of oxygen in the blood. Breathing Styles: Breathing styles are swordsmanship styles taught by the Demon Slayer Corps, allowing demon slayers to be capable of fighting on par with demons.In combat, Tanjiro is known for utilizing this to match power with opponents like Inosuke or hit enemies even when he can't use his arms. It’s so tough in fact that it caused Nezuko, as a demon, to bleed when she tried to headbutt it (pictured above). Hard Head: Tanjiro’s head is commonly shown to be extremely tough, often compared to a rock in toughness.An example is shown in which Tanjiro is completely aware of what Zenitsu’s bird is saying word for word. Animal Communication: Despite having a talking crow that other people are aware of, Tanjiro is able to understand bird language.In addition, he can also use his sense of smell to predict his opponents’ movements faster than the “line of interval”. After some more training, Tanjiro can now smell emotions and track objects (humans and demons) over long distances. His sense of smell is strong enough to allow him to smell the “line of interval” (the slight pause in an enemy’s movement that leaves an opening to strike), detect traps and use their scent to dodge them, and distinguish between species as well as their approximate positions. Enhanced Smell: Even before he became a demon slayer, Tanjiro had an incredible sense of smell.With this new knowledge and his goals set in mind, Tanjiro becomes determined to defeat Muzan and transform Nezuko back to being a human. Eventually, Tanjiro would learn about the Hinokami Kagura that was once taught to him by his late father. In addition, Tanjiro was given a personal task of collecting the blood of Muzan’s underlings, the Twelve Kizuki, for a potential cure to be made that could return Nezuko back to being a human. At some point in his career, Tanjiro would learn the identity of the demon who killed his family, Muzan Kibutsuji (a.k.a. Tanjiro would use his training in the Water Breathing Style to pass the Final Selection to become a full-fledged demon slayer. Afterwords, he sent Tanjiro to be trained by the former Water Hashira Sakonji to become a demon slayer. However, he spared Nezuko’s life when it was shown that she still retained some of her humanity by protecting her big brother. Soon after, they were attacked by the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka of the Demon Slayer Corps, whose job was to kill Nezuko. The only survivor of the attack was his younger sister, Nezuko Kamado, who unfortunately, got transformed into a demon. The next day, however, Tanjiro came home to find his mother and siblings brutally murdered by an unknown assailant. One day, a strong snow storm kept Tanjro from returning home, forcing him to spend the night somewhere else before morning came. At some point, Tanjiro’s father died and as the oldest of his siblings, Tanjiro had to make money for his family by selling charcoal to a nearby town. Tanjiro Kamado was born into a family of coal burners in the mountainside during Japan’s Taisho Period (July 30th, 1912 to December 25th, 1926).
